On Sunday 9th July 2017, the annual VELOTHON Wales will return to the roads of South Wales, welcoming some of the world’s best professional cyclists as well as thousands of recreational riders and charity fundraisers.
To facilitate the safe passage of participants, it will be necessary to implement road closures/parking restrictions along the route (which can be found below with precise closure timings).
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience and assure disruption will be kept to a minimum. We wish to thank you for your understanding and are grateful of your support and cooperation.
For queries regarding road closures or local issues, please contact either: firstname.lastname@example.org or 02921 660 790. Please note this helpline is for local residents only and this team will be unable to assist you with rider related queries.
If you are aware of anything that will impact you on 9th July such as formal events, carer responsibilities or holiday travel, please let us know. Our contact details can be seen above.
This year, we have worked closely with the five affected local authorities to develop a rolling road closure system which will allow sections of the route to re-open between the amateur and professional cyclists, ending the all-day closures of recent years. This will give an opportunity for residents to move away from the event if they need to.
More detailed localised maps, diversionary routes and advice on navigating road closures will be updated here soon.
If you are not taking part we encourage you to turn out on the day to join the thousands of spectators who will be cheering on the cyclists. Look out for the best places to spectate or community events happening in your area on the day and in the build up.
There are also plenty of exciting volunteering opportunities available, should you wish to get involved in Wales’ biggest ever cycling event.
