Safer Cycling Campaign

We believe that most accidents during a road bike race can be avoided. In light of this, we founded our Safer Cycling Campaign, which has so far proven to be successful. Our Safer Cycling team implements measures at each Velothon race to ensure that it is conducted as safely as possible. Some of these include:

  • Group rides & training days before the event
  • Blogs by former pros or specialists with videos and training tips
  • Extensive information and guidelines on the race and participant information booklets
  • Large-format signs preceding hazardous areas
  • Around 100 Safer Cycling Guides on bikes assigned during the competition
  • Use of additional motorcycles
  • Use of major emergency response services (i.e. Red Cross, St. John's, etc.)

With these measures, we aim to improve riding techniques amongst participants, and lessen accidents on the course. A further goal of the Safer Cycling Campaign is to promote fairness in the race, and to motivate more advanced riders to be mindful and considerate towards their fellow participants.
